Real Estate Developer with Angina Pectoris
Jerry L. was 49 when he first met Sara Soulati in 1999 at Cardiac Renewal Centers. As one of Los Angeles's most established real estate developers he was leading the high life at 42-years-old. He dealt with the stress of a demanding job and enjoyed the comforts of good food with little time for exercise. His " reward" was debilitating angina that caused incredible discomfort and limited his abilities in all aspects of life. He had high cholesterol, was 20 pounds overweight and did not exercise -- all modifiable risk factors. Along with the chest pain, physicians identified blockages in his arteries. He had two angioplasty procedures with stents and continued chest pain. Physicians looked inside a third time only to again find 70 percent blockage in a major artery. His options were limited; each time he met a physician, they recommended open-heart surgery, something Jerry was not interested in pursuing. He heard from three doctors that without open-heart surgery, he would die.
Sara introduced him to EECP treatments. After 35 one-hour sessions of EECP, Jerry's chest pain lessened and so did his shortness of breath. He continued with another course of treatment (35 hours), and his chest pain disappeared. Jerry is an annual visitor to Global Cardio Care Centers to receive a follow-up course of treatment. His arteries are functioning fine, and he is no longer a candidate for open-heart surgery.
EECP helps grow new collaterals for blood to flow, like a natural bypass around blocked arteries.

An American Hero with Coronary Artery Disease
Col. Edwin R. is one of America’s great heroes. After WW II, he settled in the Philippines to enjoy one of the most beautiful countries he had defended and called home for so long. While in the Philippines in 1985, he had a heart attack, and elected to return to the U.S. to take advantage of modernized medicine.
He had angioplasty and the balloon burst. He was admitted to the emergency room for emergency bypass surgery, and he had a stroke. In 1997, he had a second heart bypass surgery yet his shortness of breath remained.
Together with his wife, the colonel sought additional therapies for his cardiovascular disease. Their research directed them to Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP®) and Sara Soulati. They met Sara in 1998, and they credit EECP and Sara with saving the colonel’s life.
He was one of the first patients Sara helped put on EECP, and this was in the days prior to its FDA approval for coronary artery disease. The colonel received an initial 35 hours of EECP treatment in 1998. When Sara met him, he had angina several times a day, and he was forced to take nitroglycerin for his chest pain. He rarely exercised at that time, but after 35 hours of EECP treatment, he walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes at a good pace without any chest pain.
Arteries may become clogged with plaque causing obstruction and eventual heart attack or stroke.

A Sax Player with Stroke
When Buddy was 77 years-old, he suffered a debilitating stroke. The stroke left him with paralysis and inability to play his beloved musical instruments. He played the Los Angeles music circuit and traveled internationally to perform his music, as well. After his stroke, he went to physical therapy, the traditional rehab program, and he was unable to walk on his own. For seven years, he was confined to a wheelchair, and he got a pacemaker.
Buddy learned about Sara and EECP. He received 35 hours of EECP and a lot of motivation. Buddy began to walk without a wheel chair, although he preferred it for long distances. His left arm was not as immobile, and he began to play some of his instruments again after EECP therapy.
When arteries become clogged with plaque, oxygen-rich blood cannot circulate to the brain. This causes ischemia and stroke.
EECP helps regenerate arterial function and form new collaterals for blood to flow. Arteries in the brain become more healthy and restore natural function.

Retired Engineer with Congestive Heart Failure
Lionel is 60-years-old, and lives in Compton as a retired City of Compton police officer and engineer from Hughes Aircraft and Raytheon. In April 2007, Lionel had quadruple bypass surgery and was feeling great. Six months later, his cardiologist informed him he had congestive heart failure and his heart was functioning at 30 percent.
While attending church one day, Lionel spoke with his pastor who informed him about Global Cardio Care Centers and EECP. His pastor’s health was similar to Lionel’s, so he made an appointment for a free trial and immediately enrolled in the program.
When Lionel entered the program, he had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, was overweight, and had fluctuating sugar at pre-diabetes levels. Midway through 35 treatments, a nuclear perfusion diagnostic test was administered. It showed an increase in heart function of 7 percent. Lionel was encouraged and after visiting his cardiologist they determined he would reserve his decision about a pacemaker and defibrillator.
Lionel took a third round of EECP treatments. He has had more than 75 hours of EECP, and his heart began to function better than 60 percent. His blood pressure became regulated at an acceptable level of 125/75, and he became more energetic with better sleep. EECP helped Lionel reduce his weight from 355 lbs to 295 lbs.
He and his daughter registered for an exercise boot camp in Long Beach for three weeks daily beginning at 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Based on the education he has received from the Sara Soulati Says education program, Lionel has eliminated beef, pork and lamb from his diet. He eats chicken on occasion and fish with more vegetables and fruits.

Obesity & EECP
Before Brian, 39, visited Global Cardio Care Centers in Inglewood for the first time, he weighed 408 lbs, was dependent on a wheel chair for his mobility, could not wear shoes and was only able to fit in sweat pants. He stubbornly drank high levels of alcohol and ate anything he wanted, which mainly consisted of foods with the highest saturated fat, trans fats and sodium; fast foods; snacks; and no vegetables or fruit.
It was not long before Brian began to experience heart arrhythmia, angina, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. His fear gave him the push to lose 15 pounds on his own, and then in November 2007, Brian went to Global Cardio Care Centers in Inglewood.
When Brian arrived at Global Cardio Care Centers, his weight was 392, and his blood pressure was 122/86 (he was taking two blood pressure medications). His heart rate was 60 bpm. He suffered dizziness and fatigue, and he was extremely short of breath after minimal activity and had no ability to exercise. Brian’s blood sugar was above normal at 115.
For one year, Brian went diligently to Global Cardio Care Centers to experience EECP. He enrolled in the Global Cardio Care Gift of Life Program™ and followed the philosophy developed by the company’s founder, Sara Soulati.
During Brian’s care at Global Cardio Care Centers, he:
- Reduced or eliminated his modifiable risk factors (the ones he could change) for disease.
- Lost 158 pounds.
- Eliminated his high blood pressure medication and is naturally maintaining a healthy blood pressure of 122/86 with a heart rate between 58 and 63 bpm.
- Has blood sugar was a healthy 62 with cholesterol of 144 and triglycerides of 68.
- He alleviated his chest pain; and was able to adjust his heart’s rhythm to normal.
Brian, who lives in South Central Los Angeles, began to box in his home. His father hung a punching bag in his doorway, and Brian used it to work out an hour or more every day.
